Vietnam expands e-visa access: 41 new gateways unlocked
A game-changing update for inbound travel: Vietnam has added 41 new entry points to the e-visa system, bringing the total number to 83. The expanded list spans four airports, 11 land border gates and 26 seaports.
This policy shift doesn’t just make arrival smoother. This opens new frontiers for tourism: coastal towns, border provinces, and lesser-tapped destinations now become easier to weave into itineraries.
What it means for the travel industry
Tour designers can think beyond the usual North-Central-South itineraries and explore cross-border beach escapes with highland retreats or the Mekong subregion river journeys with rail adventures.
With expanded visa access and momentum across markets, this is the moment to:
- Reframe Vietnam itineraries with decentralized entry and exit points
- Promote lesser-known regions that are now easier to reach
- Encourage longer, more immersive stays
Record-breaking inbound growth in 2025
Vietnam’s e-visa expansion is perfectly timed with a surge in international arrivals. According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism:
- In the first 11 months of 2025, the country received over 19 million international visitors.
- November alone saw nearly 2 million visitors, making it the third-highest month of the year, up 14,1% from October and 15,6% year-on-year.
Key performing markets include:
- North America: U.S. arrivals rose 30,5% and Canada rose 55,9% in November compared to the previous month.
- Europe: Overall growth of 51,2% in November, with notable increases from the UK (31,8%), France (46,7%), Germany (51,4%), Italy (88,9%) and Poland (255,6%).
- Russia: Now Vietnam’s largest European market with arrivals up 37% in November compared to the previous month.
- India: Continued rise with +47,2% growth in 11 months.
- Southeast Asia: Strong gains across the region, led by the Philippines (+84%) and Cambodia (+48,5%).
The numbers signal rising demand for Vietnam as a top destination in Asia, especially among long-haul travelers seeking nature, culture and value.
