Vietnam is ready for a vibrant Lunar New Year 2026
ASIA DMC
As the Year of the Horse gallops in, Vietnam is preparing for one of its most spirited festive seasons yet. Following a record-breaking January that saw nearly 2.5 million international arrivals, the nation is ready to host a seamless 9-day Tet holiday rush from February 14 to 22.
Rather than a typical holiday, Tet 2026 is defined by an incredible diversity of experiences. From high-tech city displays to ancient rituals in UNESCO’s World Heritage, Vietnam is offering travelers more ways than ever to engage with its rich cultural heritage.
A journey through festive highlights
Visitors this year can expect a spectacular blend of ancient tradition and modern artistry across the country:
- Hanoi’s “Happy Tet 2026”: The capital’s soul is on display at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel. This 7,000sqm festival space recreates “Hanoi of Old” with artisan villages, calligraphy, and traditional Tet feasts inspired by the historic 87 Ma May house. On New Year’s Eve, Hanoi’s sky will be lit by 32 fireworks displays across 31 locations.
- Ho Chi Minh City’s iconic flower street: 2026 marks the 23rd consecutive year that the Nguyen Hue Flower Street has been organized, a landmark event that has become a core part of the city’s cultural identity. This year, the street features a 7-meter-tall Horse mascot and utilizes AR and 3D Mapping to offer an immersive dual day-and-night experience.
- Da Nang’s river spectacles: The iconic Dragon Bridge will perform its fire and water spectacle nightly from February 13 to 22, including a special midnight water display on New Year’s Eve (Feb 16) to welcome the new year.
- Regional flavors: From the flower boulevards and Spring OCOP fairs in Quang Ninh to nearly 30 cultural showcases and exhibitions in Khanh Hoa, every province is offering a unique window into local Tet customs, folk games, and street music.
Seamless travel for a sophisticated season
To match the diversity of activities, the tourism sector has optimized logistics to ensure international guests can navigate the festivities comfortably:
- Aviation readiness: Vietnam Airlines has added 300 extra flights, including new direct links from Hai Phong to Nha Trang, Can Tho, and Phu Quoc. This expansion makes it easier for guests to discover multiple regions without the need for traditional transit hubs.
- Cultural immersion focus: This year’s itineraries have shifted toward authentic lifestyles and early spring festivals. Travelers are moving beyond simple leisure to participate in “hidden gem” tours in suburban areas, offering a serene contrast to the vibrant city centers.
