Three airlines have confirmed their plans to launch direct flights to Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI). As Siem Reap continues to attract tourists from around the world, the addition of new airlines will continue to solidify its position as one of the must-visit destinations of Cambodia. Angkor Archaeological Park – UNESCO’s World Heritage, received 699,850 international visitors in the first nine months of 2024, up 29.7 percent from 539,561 of last year.
These airlines are Sky Angkor Airlines – Cambodia’s domestic airlines, ASIANA Airlines, and IndiGo. Sky Angkor Airlines will begin its direct flights between SAI and Incheon, Korea, starting in December this year. ASIANA Airlines is also set to launch direct flights from Incheon to SAI by the same month. Additionally, IndiGo, India’s leading low-cost carrier, has confirmed that it will add direct flights to Siem Reap.
In late October, Thai Airway and Air Asia Thailand launched scheduled flights from Bangkok and Phuket of Thailand to SAI.
Increase in flight frequency and new airlines will significantly enhance Siem Reap’s accessibility and appeal to international visitors.
Located about 50 kilometers from Siem Reap city, SAI started operations in October last year. The airport’s modern facilities and efficient operations play a vital role in facilitating more visitors to the province, boosting the local economy and enhancing the aviation sector. SAI can handle seven million passengers annually and is expected to increase its capacity to around twelve million passengers a year from 2040.
